I realized this morning, while hiking in the mountains, that I didn’t have a clue what day of the week it was!! I’m taking that as a sign of total relaxation and accepting the fact that it’s probably a good thing, and certainly a lucky thing. The fact that I don’t have to care what day of the week it is is a sign that I am living a stress free, agenda free life and how much better can it be than that?
I walked about 6 or 7 kms through the mountain today and I didn’t see a single soul the entire time. Unless you count this guy, who was tied to a fence!!
I saw countless hares, all scurrying off as soon as they caught sight of my movement. Loads of birds and one of the largest toads I have ever seen in my life. I was so shocked to see him sitting on the side of the road that I forgot to take a photo of him…..I swear he was larger than a dinner plate (I thought of you Erika)!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoy these long strolls and the fact that we are literally surrounded by old abandoned farm roads, that wind endlessly throughout the mountains surrounding us, is such a gift. Free exercise in the fresh air, for the most part, devoid of loud noises and hoards of people. I feel pretty lucky.
Once home I was informed that Françoise had decided to spend the day exploring Estoi while Marc and I were heading off to Olhao to run a few errands. We decided we would find a place for lunch as well and give F time to enjoy a bit of solitude.
A lovely day……..sunshine, fresh air, exercise, and loved ones to share it with.
