Another Hike at Fonte Benémola

Merci

Pat, Gary, Andrea and Warren have returned from their journey to the north of Portugal. Marc and I had prepared dinner for them and a lovely evening unfolded. They regaled us with their many adventures and favourite moments. They obviously had a fabulous time and were no worse for wear with all the travels and road trips.

This morning Andrea and Warren headed off to Albufeira for a couple of days and Pat, Gary, Marc and I headed off to take in the trails at the Fonte Benemola.  It’s always a pleasure to return to these trails at different points in our stay as the wild flowers and other flora are always in some new mode.  Plus today was a little cooler, perfect for meandering in the trails and forest.

Loads of new blooms to enjoy.

On the way home, as we drove up down and around all the many winding turns, we chatted about…..what else…….food and eating!!!!   I was asking Pat and Gary if they liked rabbit…..yes they do.  Suddenly we saw a little restaurant in the bend of the road……..we decided to stop and look at the prato do dia……..COELHO…….RABBIT!!!!!

Cafe Correia, about 3 kms outside Sao Bras…. this great little bar serves good honest traditional Portuguese food…..and in our humble opinion……delicious.

Marc and Gary both ordered the frango a cerveja while I had the coelho.  They were accompanied by a platter of home made fries, a platter of rice and a lovely salad.  Pat settled on a bowl of soup and enjoyed a little of the chicken and I forgot to take a photo as I was immersed in my rabbit dish!!!!  What find this little place is…….we will go back for another lunch one of these days.

From there, stuffed as we were, we simply headed for home………a couple of us….no names disclosed….took naps!!!!  Piggies at the trough!

Two photos to close the day….as we enjoy easy music, a glass of vino and great company.

  1. What a lovely walk on a beautiful day! Lunch sure looked yummy…I m getting hungry for some Portuguese fare! Hugs, Pat
