This morning I headed to the Faro airport at 6h30 to drop Pat and Gary. I hated to see them go, not only because it closes another chapter for us and puts us that much closer to heading back to Canada BUT because we enjoy their company so much and will miss our daily routine with them. That said, I know they will be enjoying two glorious weeks in the Cotswolds with Jenny and Paul. Safe travels mes amis and enjoy Jolly Ole England.
In the meantime we’ve been enjoying our glorious weather, some hiking, wonderful meals and of course our annual Good Friday visit to Alcoutim and the Festival of Sweets!!!
Hiking new paths in the mountains near Moncarapacho. What a scorcher of a day it was.
Don’t we look professional????
The broom is bursting out all throughout the mountains and countryside.
One of the views of a well organized orchard in the distance.
Interesting looking place tucked into a hillside.
Once we finished our hike we headed into Moncarapacho to meet the others for lunch.
Umbrellas were necessary to protect from the sun but also the shade provides a little coolness.
Marc enjoyed an oven roasted veal dinner.
Gary a lovely mixed meat platter
The rest of us devoured omelettes of various mixtures.
Found this window playful and funny.
Look at those two go!!!
The chaple at the museum in Moncarapacho
Good Friday we headed for our annual trek up through the mountains, a few stops along the way to enjoy vantage points, pees, a bica and lunch then arrival in Alcoutim for the Grandmothers Sweets Festival!!
Always a fun drive and time. Pat and Gary decided to stay at home and enjoy a lazy day by the pool, a walk into Fuzeta for lunch and organization of laundry and suitcases. We missed them but it made perfect sense for them to take some time to themselves.
One of the many breathtaking vistas
Marc, Carlo, Celine and Patricia……..don’t they look cute??
Real life imitates art!!!! LOL
Marc and the wisteria in Cachopo
Look at the mischief on those faces…….wandering in Cachopo.
From Cachapo we headed on to Martim Longo where we had already determined we would stop for lunch, a place that we had enjoyed on previous trips where several large stork nests existed. Built in entertainment and great food.
Lots of leg as the camera tilted downward just as the timer went off!!!!
Thought of you Benoit!!!!
Alcoutim was busy and loads of fun. We wandered, checked out the goodies but did not purchase. Explored the town, enjoyed a relaxing period on a patio then folks headed back to pick up a few “treats” for home.
Lively entertainment wandering the streets and waterfront.
This looked very appealing.
She couldn’t resist!
Spain, across the river.
Old windmills on the Spanish side of the river.
A cool relaxing corner which was hardly ever empty…….I took advantage of a lull in people sitting there.
The Easter Bunny AND the Grandma!!
Two happy fellas.
Two happy people!!! Spain in the background.
This fellow had a bad back and was stretching and doing exercises on the wall leading up to the church……..perhaps looking for holy intervention!
Young and old alike were out to enjoy the festivities.
The church steeple in Spain.

Pat and Celine……..you can tell from the smirks that something was going on!!
Zip lining from Spain to Portugal…..right over the Guadiana River. I would need a Depends|!!
Another Easter Bunny on stilts.
Wandering the village.
Look at those colours!!!
I loved this plant.
And last, but certainly not least, the purchases of the day…….which were put on the table after dinner with forks for all but me………and away they went!!! There are left-overs for the record.
